One of the first reformer studios in Sri Lanka.
When we opened our reformer studio in March 2025, we were among the very first in the country to bring this practice to a beachfront setting. That’s not a detail we take lightly — it means every class carries a standard of equipment, instruction, and environment that’s still rare on the island.
The studio sits on the first floor of our four-storey Pilates and yoga building, looking straight out over Talalla Beach. Ten reformer beds, a full set of props, and enough room to move properly. Small classes by design, because Pilates deserves your instructor’s full attention. In the months since we opened in March 2025, we found that keeping classes small makes the biggest difference to how quickly people progress.

Pilates FAQs
What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine, the reformer, to add resistance and support to classical Pilates movements. The sliding carriage, adjustable springs, and straps allow for a much wider range of exercise than mat work alone.
Do I need experience to join a class?
Not at all. Our classes are designed for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Vera guides you through every movement and adapts exercises to suit where you are.
Are classes included if I'm staying at Talalla?
Yes. For our 21st anniversary, all Pilates classes are complimentary for every in-house guest through 31 May 2027. No extra charge and no class pack needed. Just book your room and join any class during your stay.
How do I get to Talalla?
We are on Sri Lanka’s south coast, and you can find us on Google Maps. We are reachable by car, tuktuk, bike, or on foot if you are locally based. From Hiriketiya, the journey takes around 20 minutes by tuktuk. When you arrive, head to the front desk.
Is Reformer Pilates good for weight loss?
Low impact strength work that builds muscle and supports a healthy routine. It is about strength and how you feel, not the scales.
Does Reformer Pilates build strength?
Yes. Spring resistance loads the muscles through a controlled range, kind to the joints but still demanding.
How often should I do Reformer Pilates?
Two to three sessions a week for most people, and daily is fine on a retreat as our instructors adjust the intensity.
What's the difference between mat and reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses your body weight on the floor, which is great for building core awareness but with less variety and support. Reformer Pilates adds resistance, assistance, and a much broader range of movement through the machine itself.
How do I book a class?
Send us a WhatsApp on +94 70 323 1292 or email [email protected].We recommend booking in advance, as classes are small by design and spots fill quickly, especially during retreat weeks. Walk-ins are welcome subject to availability.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear something lightweight, fitted, and comfortable. You will be lying down, stretching, and using straps, so avoid very loose layers. Barefoot is fine, and we do not require Pilates grip socks. Bring a water bottle, with free refill stations on site.
Is Pilates part of the Wellness Retreat?
Yes. Daily reformer Pilates is a core part of the 8-day Wellness Retreat, alongside morning yoga, sound healing, the Bathhouse, a temple visit, and a full-body massage. The retreat runs every week, all year, and the tuition is included through 31 May 2027.
What is the difference between yoga and Pilates?
Pilates focuses on core strength and control, while yoga leans into flexibility and breath. They work well together, which is why both are in the Wellness Retreat.
Can I do Pilates while pregnant or with an injury?
Often yes, and the machine’s support helps. Tell us when you book and check with your doctor first, so the instructor can adapt the class to you.
