Yoga with Kailash
About Kailash and his retreat dates
Kailash will be joining us here at Talalla from July 1st until September 30th 2012.
Kailash has been practising yoga and meditation in India, Thailand and elsewhere for the last twenty years. He has studied yoga with teachers from a multitude of traditions, notably Clive Sheridan and Emil Wendel. He has also spent many years immersed in meditation and dharma with Christopher Titmuss and Ajay Singh.
For the last 11 years he has been teaching yoga in Southeast Asia, India, Canada and Europe. Over the last two years he has been teaching in Chiang Mai at various yoga studios, and giving private one-to-one classes. He has also taught at The Sanctuary, south Thailand, and at the Vientiane Yoga Studio in Laos, over a few seasons. In addition, he has given classes and workshops in Tiruvannamalai, Rishikesh and Dharamsala (India), as well as in Singapore and Montreal, Canada. He has also facilitated meditation retreats in Thailand and dharma programs in India as part of the Open Dharma network.
"I have an eclectic approach to hatha yoga, inspired primarily by the Iyengar-adapted approaches of Erich Schiffmann and Dona Holleman. My emphasis is on awakening both energy and stillness at the same time through the proper application of alignment, breath, and biomechanics. I cover a whole range of styles, from dynamic vinyasa flows to gentle restorative classes, as well as pranayama.
My commitment is to guide, nourish and support each student, regardless of their level, to explore the edges of their practice, in an atmosphere that is challenging, fun, and safe. "
Kailash also teaches Shibashi, the 18 Movements form of Taichi Qigong, and does energetic healing. He is well-known for his clarity and empathy in communication, and is also fluent in French. He spends a significant amount of time every year on silent meditation retreat. This quality of stillness and presence shines through in his classes and in his being.
